Charlize Theron Skincare Secrets and Routine

A good cleanser and sunblock. And I always try to moisturise as much as possible.

I always make sure to cleanse all the make-up off at night to stop any breakouts.

I wash my face before I go to sleep and I use moisturizer regularly.

I just rinse my face with cold water — I don’t believe in overzealous cleansing — and then I apply La Roche-Posay 50 sunblock, a bit of foundation and mascara and I’m out the door.

I’m a massive believer in sunblock. Massive. I wear sunblock in the winter, when it’s rainy and gray out—all the time. And not just SPF 15; I wear 50. Five-zero! It’s a huge part of my moisturizing routine.

The importance of sunscreen has been instilled in me from a very young age through my mom, who is aging so well.

I play around with different moisturizers—I like to change up my skin care. Right now I love Dior L’Or de Vie, La Crème. It’s very hydrating.

I also keep cleansing really simple. I’ve stuck with Cetaphil for years now; it’s very gentle. And cherry Chapstick.

[In the evening] I don’t use make-up remover — I simply wash my face with DiorSnow foaming cleanser and it removes absolutely everything. I apply Dior Capture eye cream with a cotton swab and night cream.

I like to change my cosmetics regularly so that my skin won’t become immune to the effects of the products. I’m getting over a Crème de la Mer phase.

I am completely addicted to Dior L’Or de Vie, an elixir that gives your skin an instant natural glow.

Charlize Theron Makeup Secrets and Routine

There’s something adventurous about Dior’s J’adore perfume. It reminds me of travelling.

I always have the great La Mer lip balm close by.

I’ve become more experimental with my make-up. I even wore fuchsia lips to a screening recently. I’ve never done anything like that before.

It’s [spray on makeup] really, really light. I don’t like foundation that is cakey or heavy. You can see [the foundation on top of your skin.

If I don’t get all my mascara off, I put a little bit of eye cream around my eyes, then gently wipe with a Q-tip. Rubbing with make-up remover is too harsh.

I use loose luminescent powder instead of a compact.

My makeup artist, Shane Paish, is a genius. One of the things he taught me is to use nude pencil eyeliner to outline the inside of my eyes for a brighter look when I’m feeling tired.

Charlize Theron Hair Secrets and Routine

[I use] brightening shampoos and conditioners for my blonde hair, and a deep hair treatment once a week.

I try to be extra gentle on my hair since it endures a lot on set.

My longtime stylist Enzo Angileri turned me on to hair oils for deep conditioning, so I’ll do a treatment when I have a little bit of free time.

I always go superblond, which I love.

I love Kiehl’s Tea Tree Oil Shampoo—it moisturizes my hair, which becomes dry after I color it.

When I’m not working. I don’t use a blow dryer, so you’ll see me running around with wet hair. If I give my hair a break from heat, it does really well.

Charlize Theron Diet Secrets and Routine

I’m careful to eat a healthy balance of foods, but I eat six small meals a day.

If I fancy a burger, rather than deprive myself I’ll have a quarter of one.

I exercise a lot, and I hike a lot. My mom and I hike at least three times a week.

I love red meat – for breakfast it is steak and eggs.

I have always been very athletic. I studied ballet for years, but I used to sneak out to do ice-skating, squash, running – everything.

Charlize Theron Fitness Secrets and Routine

I have to be disciplined, it’s part of my job. So I train five days a week right now.

I practice an incredibly hard yoga called power yoga.

I cycle, I spin and I do all sorts of things that I like – because that’s the key.

I exercise! I think the best diet is making sure you eat a variety of foods in balanced portions.

I’ve practiced yoga for many years, and it gives me energy and makes me feel really great.

A few years ago, I also picked up cycling, which is better on my knees than running.

I’ve learned you’re not ever going to have any real success unless you find something that you can really implement into your lifestyle and really love.
