Christina Hendricks Skincare Secrets and Routine

[I use Shu Uemura cleansing oil], It doesn’t dry me out, [and Remède facial moisturizer].

I moisturize all the time. I really like 3LAB and Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Also, I’ll be cooking and so dry from washing my hands, I’ll just take olive oil and be like, “Ahh!”

I’m very fair, so I take special care of my skin by applying sunscreen daily. Not only on my face, but also on my arms and chest. It’s important to me have healthy, good-looking skin.

I’m in love with Dermaologica’s Daily Resurfacer, and always throw a few into my toiletry bag when traveling. They look like little finger puppets—you put one on your finger, and gently scrub your face. They’re absolutely adorable and really work, too.

I have very dry skin, so I’m never without moisturizer. I’ve been using Lancôme’s Génifique serum, and I apply Dermalogica sunscreen every day. If I’m not careful about sunscreen, I’ll freckle, just like a real redhead. It’s like I’ve tricked my body in believing I’m really a redhead.

I indulge in Crème de la Mer. It’s an extreme treat! My dry skin just soaks it up.

I took my skin for granted when I was younger. Now I’m much more vigilant. Living in L.A., just driving around, I’m getting sun —and I freckle easily. I use Dermalogica sunscreen, and I love their facials.

If my legs are showing, the makeup artist adds a tiny amount of foundation to body lotion and rubs it in. Now if I have an event to go to, I’ll buy CoverGirl foundation and mix it in with my lotion.

I use [Benefit Erase Paste in Fair] and Koh Gen Do Moisture Foundation. They’re the exact right color for my skin.

If there’s only one thing you wear, make it blush. A little on your cheeks, and you’ll instantly look pretty, lively and fresh.

I’ve always felt like my lashes were sort of piddly, especially in comparison to all of the false strips and strong eye makeup I wear for the show. I just started Latisse… I can gauge how the length is increasing when I use my eyelash curler in the morning.

I like to bring attention to my lips because they are so expressive, so I always have lipstick. Specifically, Dolce and Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick in Cosmopolitan. It’s a vibrant coral color – perfect for spring and summer.

False lashes… They drive me crazy, but this [Talika Lash Conditioning Cleanser] really sops up the eye makeup and lash glue.”

I love perfume. I have 10 L’Artisan Parfumeur scents. Right now I’m super into the amber, but they also had a mandarin that’s absolutely amazing. I bought it when I did the pilot for Mad Men, so every time I spray it on, it reminds me of how excited I was to start the show.

My husband and I started doing a Soup of the Week. We just make a big pot once a week that’s healthy and in the fridge, so if we feel snacky, there’s something really delicious in there. I’ve got lentil in the fridge right now.

My new obsession is Häagen-Dazs Low-Fat Frozen Yogurt in Dulce de Leche. It’s a revelation. I can’t believe it’s low-fat. It doesn’t make any sense, it’s so good.

I feel like I need more energy, so I’m trying to stay away from tons of carbs and eat more protein.

I’ve always been fit, I’ve always been active, and I’ve always been healthy, but I’ve just tried to live my life the way I live it. It’s nice that I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback about it lately.

I keep [Kettleballs] right next to the bed, so I can run my bath water, do a set, and then do something else, and then come back and do another set

[To make workouts fun] I read magazines, and I’ll try [the exercises]. It’s something different, and, often, you don’t need equipment. If I get any private time in my trailer, all of a sudden I’m doing sit-ups and push-ups.

I get kind of bored on the treadmill, but I do it. And I do a little bit of weight training. I’m really into the BOSU ball. You have to balance on it, and I do weights and squats on it. I’m pretty good at it, I feel sort of like a Karate Kid.

It’s amazing how quick an hour can go by when you work out with someone you love.
Those two things [getting enough sleep and drinking water] really affect me daily. I like a lot of sleep, but when I travel, I can’t do that, so I know I will have to make up for it later. I just try to stay balanced.

I have to constantly remind myself to check in and be good to myself, to take vitamins, and exercise.

Be nice to yourself! We all need to look in the mirror and see the things that are beautiful in ourselves, and to remind ourselves of what those things are. And it’s nice to have the people around us remind us, too.

We’re all really busy people and it’s hard sometimes to eat the right foods or drink the right thing or put the sunscreen on. We just have to constantly check in and gauge and moderate ourselves.

I’m really into my BOSU ball right now. They’re kind of fun. I have good balance, so I feel like I’m good at it.
