If you take care of yourself, I think you age gracefully and it all stays together pretty OK.

It’s cleansing your skin, watching what you eat, no smoking, not too much drinking, no sugar — just simple.

And using sunscreen! If you don’t have a good base, then it doesn’t matter what you put on it — it’s not going to look as great as it could.

When I’m not working, I don’t really wear makeup. I think it’s a good chance to give the skin a break.

I think skin is really genetic. My dad has great, great beautiful skin. I think there are things that we can do to make good and bad skin better. But I think the real quality, texture and luminosity of skin is genetics. And you can affect it by what you eat, drink or whether you smoke or do drugs.

I use a line called Kinara created by Olga Northrup. She has a spa that’s really close to my house and I’ve used her products for about 15 years.

I swear by this woman named Olga Northrup at the Kinara Spa in L.A. She knows her stuff. I’ve sent many people to her over the years—they’ll say, `Halle, I’ve got a bad problem and I don’t know what to do about this,’ and she’s just like Wonder Woman. She fixes it up and knows what to do for different skin types—she’s amazing. I use her whole line of products, from cleanser and moisturizer to eye cream. She’s also got this Red Carpet Facial Kit, which gives your skin a boost before going out to an event or having a special evening. It’s a light peel so you can just do it at home.

I hardly ever wear makeup. I like to give my skin a break — let it breathe.

Face powder, as I’m a shiny mess, and a lip. I have a bad habit of chewing my lips and without something on there, I just chew them off. I need some sort of moisture there, whether it be a lip balm or lip color. I’ve been wearing Just Bitten Kissable in Honey. It’s the perfect, creamy nude.

You have to find a foundation that completely matches your skin tone, so you don’t have a different color face and body; something that’s light, oil-free and doesn’t feel too heavy. Everything else you can add, like an eye and mouth, but you have to get a good base.

ColorStay is something that’s been tried and true—it’s a favorite of Revlon’s and it’s a favorite of mine. Even when I don’t feel like wearing makeup having a good base is important to me. The ColorStay foundations are great and they help my skin look natural and even.

I love short hair—that’s me, that’s who I am. I just feel confident and feel like my best self when I have short hair. But it’s fun to change sometimes.

I get a little bored a… thanks to extensions, it’s easy… The trick is that you have to get hair that looks like it’s actually growing out of your head—it has to be the same texture as your natural hair.

When you have short hair, sometimes you have to play with it a little to make it look good.

I’m a Whole Foods shopper all the way. Products will claim to be good for you, but when you look at the ingredients, they’re loaded with sugar.

I always recommend being healthy with your diet – nothing in a box, nothing frozen and if it doesn’t go bad within a week, don’t eat it! Fresh is the way to go. Eat five times a day – three meals and two snacks.

I just try to take care of myself, eat well, and exercise. I really do believe that how you live shows up on your face.

I work out with Nat Bardonnet three times a week, an hour at a time. I do cardio, very light weights, and exercises that use a lot of my own body weight.

I just try and keep everything lean and toned – the days of trying to get a body are done.

I use 3lb. weights to fatigue the muscles and keep them lean rather than building them up.

I do not love to work out. But if I stick to exercising every day and put the right things in my mouth, then my diabetes just stays in check.

Having a baby takes so much from you. It’s the most glorious thing you’ll ever do, but the aftermath is not so glorious! So now I’m having to exercise, eat a little bit differently, take a lot more vitamins.
